Here are some commonly asked questions about web development use. Click on the links below to get answers to your questions:

  • Website Design

  • Why a website is crucial to your business?

    1. A WEBSITE INCREASES YOUR CREDIBILITY

Your website has a powerful impact on a potential customer's confidence in you. A professional design, well-written copy, helpful product information, and good contact info can tremendously increase trust in your company. It lets people know you're knowledgeable and up-to-date. If you take the time to develop a good-quality site with helpful information, visitors will have no choice but to be impressed.

    2. A WEBSITE MAKES YOUR COMPANY VISIBLE ANYTIME, ANYWHERE.

As of April 2008, there are roughly 285 million people online in the US alone. Some 76% of americans use the Internet. Some of them are looking for your products and services. With a website, you open yourself up to a world of opportunity in reaching people who might not otherwise find you. With the click of a mouse, anyone can get to your company's website 24/7.

    3. A WEBSITE MAKES IT EASY FOR PEOPLE TO REFER NEW CUSTOMERS TO YOU.

For many businesses, referrals are a crucial source of new customers. Having a website makes it easy to encourage referrals, because customers can simply send friends and business contacts to your site. Website addresses are easier to remember than phone numbers. Plus, giving people multiple ways of contacting you makes it more likely that they will do so.

    4. A WEBSITE IS A POWERFUL SALES TOOL.

Selling your products through an online store is often a killer way to expand your business. You have a perpetual, easily-accessed storefront--one that costs a fraction of a brick and mortar store and can reach many more people. Effective sales copy can do an incredible job of hooking visitors on your products and compelling them to click that "buy" button.

Even if you can't sell your services directly over the internet, a website is still a powerful asset. It's a primer that you use to convince visitors of why they need your services. You get them salivating to buy, then invite them to contact you through your site.

    5. A WEBSITE INCREASES THE VALUE OF YOUR ADVERTISING.

Adding your website address to all your advertisments, business cards, and company literature is a great way to draw potential customers to your company. Providing a website gives people a way to act on your message whenever they hear about you or see an ad for your company. Going to a website is easier than writing, visiting a store, or even making a phone call. Customers get the information at their convenience and don't have to wait for a salesperson to help them. Also, it's often more comfortable to visit a website, because there is no obligation. Visitors don't feel pressured.

    6. A WEBSITE HELPS YOU STAY IN CONTACT WITH POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS.

There are frequently people who are interested in what you have to offer, but they might not be ready to buy right now. You need to stay in contact with them so that you immediately come to mind when they ARE ready. A website is a great way to facilitate this. You can use your website to collect email addresses from visitors. Then you can periodically send out promotional emails or a newsletter. Staying in contact keeps your company fresh in visitors' minds.

Every project is unique and we try to make sure our pricing is based on your specific needs and not what we think the market will tolerate.

  • What payment options do you offer?

Company check and/or credit cards, paypal are accepted. All projects require a down payment of 50% to start.

Your company will benefit from having experienced design professionals applying intelligent marketing and design solutions to answer the brief presented.

  • Where do we start and how do you involve your clients in the design process?

We always start by thoroughly discussing the details of the project with the client. Essentially we call this the design brief, it can be verbally communicated through a meeting. We encourage the client to contribute ideas and samples of items and colours that are liked. Equally important is to understand concepts that the client doesn’t like. When we are satisfied we have enough information to work with, we will begin the project by researching ideas, considering concepts and then laying out design visuals, these will be forwarded to the client for feedback. We listen carefully to our clients feedback and make the necessary changes to the layouts and offer advice on why we arrived at the design conclusions submitted. This process of amendment and resubmission continues until the design naturally evolves into its final form.

  • What makes a good logo?

    Your logo should:

    • reflect the values of your product or service
    • differentiate you from your competitors
    • be aesthetically pleasing
    • gain recognition quickly
    • be unique and built from scratch just for you
  • How much do you charge?

We wish there is a straight answer to this, however design services are not so easily quantifiable as requirement varies for each and every project.

We have two types of billing depending on your design job :
    a) Net Price - per-project price, pre-determined at the start of the project or
    b) Hourly rated - billed according to the time utilised.
Clients are updated regularly on their project by our time-log and status reports.

We offer a FREE, no-obligation quotation process, to help define the scope and specification of each project. We are flexible and can work within any budget constraints you may have.
We do not believe in disappointing anybody with any form of hidden cost. It is our policy to be transparent with our clients with all costs itemized prior to the start of any project. Any changes and adjustments are then made and agreed upon by both sides before embarking on any work.

  • DATABASE APPLICATIONS

  • What is a Web Application?

A web application is a a piece of software that resides on a web server and typically performs some sort of business function by combining computer programs called “scripts” with databases.

Web applications provide their users with a number of advantages over conventional software. They excel at allowing organizations to centralize their data, easing communications and preventing miscommunication.

They also provide a software solution that is platform independent, and if desired, can be set up so they can be accessed from any web enabled workstation in the world.

  • How Can Web Applications Improve My Business Process?

Web Applications allow you to do all the functions that you do on your current computer system, only better. The advantage is that you can share your activities with colleagues in a secure cloud environment.

By eliminating the back-and-forth communication of e-mail and file sharing, collaboration on Web Applications cloud computing system saves you time, increases your productivity, and gives you a more secure sharing environment.

  • What is a database driven website?

Database driven web site is one that uses database for collecting and storing information. What information it can be? Various. Email addresses, contact info, clients list, products list, listings of real estate property, trade offers, images, and links, etc.

    HOW DOES IT WORK?

For example, you have a static HTML web site for your business with posted information about the company, products or services, clients, and there is contact form.

If you have strong HTML skills you update your site without problems each time you need it. Otherwise you hire a webmaster or use maintenance services of a web design company. You write info in text document, send it to your webmaster, he manually inserts it to the site.

You store your products, clients, and contacts info in Word or Excel files.

Probably you store emails that you receive from contact form in Word or Excel files. Is it handful and easy? Is there an alternative?

In the database driven web site all information is stored in table format of databases on the server, script generates pages that are showed on the site as usual HTML ones.

Usually database driven web sites have admin panel with user-friendly interface where you can manage the site content, i.e. add, edit, or delete info by yourself, create new pages or delete old ones. You can update your site easily each time you need it.

Requests sent form contact form can be saved in database for further use, you can edit them, group, and sort.
You can create pictures gallery on your site and update it easily. You can have news box at your site and update it easily each time you need it.

    IS IT EXPENSIVE?

No, if you order the site from a web design/development company that has good experience in database driven web sites design that means elaborated and tested development process, time and cost saving methods which give high-quality work within short timeline and at affordable price.

  • What exactly is SQL injection?

    1. WHAT EXACTLY IS SQL INJECTION?

SQL injection is a type of attack that targets Web sites backed by a relational database such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle or MySQL. The database might be doing nothing more complicated than capturing user names and passwords, or it might be executing full-blown sales transactions.

    2. WHO IS VULNERABLE TO SQL INJECTION?

Hundreds of thousands of sites around the world are potentially vulnerable to SQL injection if they don’t properly defend against it. Any web site that has a form that communicates to a database is at risk.

    3. HOW DOES SQL INJECTION WORK?

The way it works is very simple. An improperly programmed Web form can inadvertently allow data and executable code to get mixed up. Suppose the site has a page where a user has to type in some data—maybe just a user name, a blog comment, or a description of an item for sale. A hacker can hijack a data entry field on this Web form by entering a value that is completely different in type from what the programmer intended. For example, SQL uses the single quote character () as an escape character. This tells the database that whatever comes next is no longer data but executable code. All the hacker has to do is insert a piece of live SQL after the escape character. The database engine will see that code and think it is expected to execute it. In that way it can be tricked into performing a task of the hackers choice—perhaps inserting fictitious values into the database or retrieving data the hacker shouldn’t see, or even maliciously deleting an entire table.

    4. HOW CAN SITES PROTECT THEMSELVES AGAINST SQL INJECTION?

The best defense is to design your database-driven web site properly to make sure it always separates SQL code and user data. You basically have a choice between programming tools that are specifically designed to prevent you from making this kind of mistake and those that allow you to get into trouble if you are not careful. Roughly speaking, this corresponds to the difference between the newer Microsoft .Net tools and their older tools or open source frameworks like PHP. The pre-.Net Microsoft tools in particular were very vulnerable to attack and at the same time very easy to use. You had a lot of people building Web sites with them who really had no clue how to defend themselves from attackers. Since then Microsoft has re-architected its products and the current generation of .Net tools makes it much more difficult to expose yourself to SQL injection unless you do something really strange.

    5. ARE YOU SAYING THAT SITES BUILT WITH OPEN SOURCE TOOLS LIKE PHP ARE MORE VULNERABLE TO SQL INJECTION ATTACKS THAN SITES BUILT WITH .NET?

Its a question of mentality. Microsoft’s mindset is to fix things in such a way that the user doesn’t have so much control and is therefore less vulnerable. The open source tools like PHP have a different philosophy. They assume that users know what they are doing and want to be free of constraints, so these tools let users do what they want but at their own risk. The open source tools assume that developers these days are aware of the threat of SQL injection and will do the right thing.

    6. IS IT FAIR TO SAY THAT THE RISK OF SQL INJECTION IS GREATER FOR OLDER WEB SITES?

    Yes

    7. WHAT’S SO HARD ABOUT REMEDIATING THE VULNERABILITIES IN OLDER SITES?

You can certainly do it. But retraining the developers who built the old sites is often a big problem. Perhaps you went out in 2002 and hired a bunch of college kids to build your site. The college kids applied what they had just learned in college, which at that time didn’t include protecting themselves from things like SQL injection. Now fast forward five years to 2007 and the college kids you hired in 2002 haven’t learned anything new. They have to be retrained to use the newer tools. Or else you have to go out and hire new college kids, who will apply what they have just learned in college, but will themselves have to be retrained five years down the road. It always comes down to a question of education.
